UK energy developer Carlton Power last week announced partnership agreements to supply hydrogen from its 10-MW Langage Green Hydrogen project to mining companies Imerys and Sibelco.

Sibeclo’s Cornwood and Imerys’ Lee Moor clay mining operations are located within five miles of the project’s site near Plymouth, Devon in southwestern England. They will receive hydrogen via an underground pipeline.

The hydrogen project was shortlisted for UK government support last month. Subject to final agreements with the UK government and a financial investment decision, it could start construction by the end of the year and commence operations in 2025.

“Following the development of our initial 10 MW project at Langage, we hope to increase its capacity to allow more companies – in industry, manufacturing and transport - to decarbonise their operations,” said Eric Adams, hydrogen projects director at Carlton Power.
