Engie Espana, part of French utility group Engie SA (EPA:ENGI), has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply renewable energy to another French company operating in Spain.

The energy firm said on Thursday that it has secured a corporate PPA with supermarket chain Carrefour, to which it will supply around 180 GWh of electricity per year.

Under the agreement, Carrefour will be powered by four Engie assets, two wind farms and two solar farms, as it moves to reach 100% renewable energy use by 2030. This PPA will enable the supermarket company to cover nearly 30% of its consumption in Spain.

Carrefour also continues to invest in self-consumption and currently has over 290,000 square metres of solar panels in 140 stores, Engie Espana said.
