Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTA cattle ranch on the Island of Hawaii announced on Wednesday the involvement of its renewable energy subsidiary in a project of Canada-based Innergex Renewable Energy Inc to develop a 30-MW solar park with 120 MWh of energy storage.
Specifically, Parker Ranch Inc said that its unit Paniolo Power Company LLC is working with Innergex on the development of the Hale Kuawehi solar project, which, upon completion, will be able to meet almost 20% of the Island of Hawaii's baseload electricity requirements.
The facility will be built on roughly 300 acres (121.4 ha) of land near Parker Ranch's industrial park, off of Mamalahoa Highway. Construction work is scheduled to begin early next year and be completed in late 2022.
In 2019, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved a project-related power purchase agreement (PPA) between Innergex and Hawaiian Electric with a term of 25 years and an agreed price of USD 0.08 (EUR 0.07) per kWh.
