Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTColombian power utility Celsia has signed an agreement with US oil-and-gas major Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) to install and operate a 4.03-MWp solar farm at a fuel terminal in Colon, Panama.
The plant, featuring 6,714 solar panels spread over 4 hectares (9.88 acres), will produce electricity needed for Chevron's operations at the terminal located in Bahia Las Minas, Celsia said on Friday.
This solar farm will enable Panama’s largest fuel storage facility to prevent the release of 1,809.3 tonnes of CO2 per year, according to the utility.
With the solar panels in operation, Chevron's terminal operations will be completely carbon neutral, according to Doriana Hun, general manager of Chevron de Panama. The plan is to start solar power production by the fourth quarter of 2024 or the first quarter of 2025, she said.
