Sep 03, 2024 15:11 CESTNorwegian power company Statkraft AS has sealed a sleeved power purchase agreement (PPA) with Cemex Polska which is set to cover 30% of the annual electricity needs of the Polish building materials company.
The eight-year baseload contract, backed by guarantee of origin certificates (GOs), will come into force on January 1, 2025. The power will be sourced from wind and solar farms in Poland.

The partnership agreed with Statkraft is aligned with the Polish firm’s sustainable development goals and will also help the company cope with the instability in electricity prices seen in the European and Polish energy markets over the past months, said Tadeusz Radzieciak, a director and board member at Cemex Polska.
Cemex Polska is part of Mexican construction materials giant Cemex SAB de CV. With the new PPA, Poland becomes the second European country, after Spain, where the Latin American group has sealed such a contract.
