The Indiana-based electric utility business of CenterPoint Energy Inc (NYSE:CNP) has launched an All-Source Request for Proposals (RFP) in an attempt to contract renewable, thermal and demand-side resources.

CenterPoint Energy Indiana South is accepting proposals that include utility-scale solar, wind and storage projects, either standalone or paired, in addition to thermal generation, load-modifying resources, demand-side resources and other innovative solutions. It seeks generation technologies able to provide fully accredited capacity no later than March 1, 2028.

"This RFP allows us to explore a wide range of technologies that can contribute to our long-term generation strategy. We are also building on the insights gained from previous RFPs to better meet the needs of our customers and adapt to ever-evolving market conditions,” said Shane Bradford, CenterPoint's Vice President, Indiana Electric.

The RFP was issued on August 15 and interested parties will have time until October 8, 2024, to lodge their proposals. The process is being managed by 1898 & Co, a division of Burns & McDonnell.

The company serves around 150,000 electric customers in southwestern Indiana.
