H-TEC to supply 1-MW electrolyser for H2 mobility scheme in Spain
Sep 17, 2024 11:56 CESTSpanish oil-and-gas group Cepsa plans to use recycled water to power a green hydrogen plant that will be built at its San Roque Energy Park in Cadiz province, southern Spain.
The water will come from Aguas y Servicios del Campo de Gibraltar (Arcgisa) future wastewater treatment plant, which is expected to be capable of treating 4.2 million cubic metres of water annually.
The deal also includes additional R&D&I activities for the valorization, recovery and recycling of solid urban waste managed by Arcgisa.
Cepsa said this move is part of its EUR-3-billion (USD 3.2bn) Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley project. Located at the firm's energy parks in Huelva and San Roque municipalities, the scheme is dubbed the largest of its kind in Europe.
Andalusian Green will consist of two green hydrogen production facilities, each with 1 GW of capacity, one in Huelva and the other in Cadiz. Production is scheduled to commence in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
In order to power Andalusian Green, Cepsa will invest EUR 2 billion in the development of 3 GW of wind and solar projects.
