CEZ Electro generates bulk of trading turnover on Sofia bourse, SOFIX falls

Power supplier CEZ Electro Bulgaria [BUL:1CZ], a subsidiary of Czech power utility CEZ, generated 77% of Thursday's trading turnover on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, bourse data showed.

CEZ Electro shares closed 18% lower at 20,500 levs ($11,900/10,500 euro) apiece, generating a turnover of 1 million levs.

Earlier on Thursday, Bulgaria’s Commission for Protection of Competition issued a statement saying the local power supply and power distribution units of Austrian energy group EVN and Czech groups Energo-Pro and CEZ have abused their dominant position on the market. Companies from the three groups have exchanged information on clients, which decide to start getting electricity supplies at freely negotiated prices and have delayed issuing the documents needed by their clients to change their supplier, the regulator said.

Total trading turnover on the Sofia bourse fell to 1.3 million levs on Thursday, down from 1.5 million levs on Wednesday.

Stara Planina Hold [BUL:5SR] led the list of blue-chip decliners on Thursday, closing 2.35% lower at 8.3 levs.

Industrial group Chimimport [BUL:6C4] was the most traded blue chip company on the Sofia bourse for a second consecutive day, as 25,108 of its shares changed hands at an average price of 1.801 levs.

Car battery manufacturer MonBat [BUL:5MB] rose the most among the blue chips, closing 1.63% higher at 11.87 levs.

The blue-chip SOFIX index fell 0.04% to 711.12 points, after closing flat on Wednesday.

The broader BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the BSE, edged down 0.03% to 134.66 points, after adding 0.30% on Wednesday.

The BG-REIT index, which tracks the performance of real estate investment trusts, added 0.01% to 114.17 points on Thursday. On Wednesday, the index rose 0.03%.

The BG TotalReturn30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, rose 0.67% to 537.68 points, after dropping by 0.01% on Wednesday.
