French fashion company Chanel and Sunrun Inc (NASDAQ: RUN) have teamed up to install 30 MW of solar capacity for low-income multifamily homes in California.

Chanel announced on Wednesday that it is investing USD 35 million (EUR 30m) in the projects, which will provide with access to solar power almost 30,000 low-income residents of California.

The investment is part of the French company's Global Climate Strategy, which includes its efforts aimed at cutting carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions across its value chain and helping the global transition to sustainability.

Sunrun is planning to develop at least 100 MW of solar on low-income multi-family housing in California over the next ten years.
