Sep 13, 2024 13:36 CEST(SeeNews) – Dec 15, 2011 – The average energy bill of a UK household will rise by GBP 190 (USD 294/EUR 226) by 2020, but the charges related to renewables and energy efficiency would make only GBP 110 of that, an analysis by government advisers shows, the Guardian said today.
The analysis by the Committee on Climate Change (CCC), out on Thursday, contradicts other forecasts that point to average bill for homes that use electricity, and gas for heating rising up to GBP 3,000 by 2020, from GBP 1,060 in 2010. The CCC suggests some of the errors in rival analyses might be due to assumptions that 30 GW of wind turbines would be installed by 2020, while in fact the government aims for just 12 GW.
The CCC analysis also shows that 84% of the GBP 455 rise of a bill for electricty and gas between 2004 and 2010 was due to higher wholesale gas prices, while green taxes added GBP 75.
