Chile Central Los Aromos plans 90-MW PV park in Atacama

Sep 26, 2014 - Chilean power company Central Los Aromos SpA is planning to build a 90-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in the Atacama region, an environmental impact declaration submitted to the local authorities shows.

The firm is to invest USD 169 million (EUR 132.6m) in the Piedra Colgada Solar project. It will involved the installation of 304,560 panels of 305 Wp each.

Once operational, the solar farm is estimated to produce 193 GWh of power annually.

The facility is planned to supply its future output to Chile's central interconnected power system SIC via a tap-off between the power substation Los Llanos and the 110-kV transmission line Travesia - Punta Padrones, controlled by local miner Minera Candelaria.
