UK export credit agency offers over GBP 5bn for green H2 in Chile
Sep 13, 2024 15:00 CESTSusana Jimenez was on Sunday sworn in as Chile's new energy minister by Sebastian Pinera, who returned to the country's presidency.
Pinera unveiled his cabinet in January. Undersecretary will be Ricardo Irarrazabal.
Jimenez has been deputy director at Chilean think-thank Libertad y Desarrollo (LyD) since the start of 2017. She joined LyD in 2010 as a senior economist, responsible for studies in the fields of energy, environment, regulation and free competition, and water resources.
The new minister has a master's degree in economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and master's degree in humanities from the Universidad del Desarrollo. She takes over the post from Andres Rebolledo.
According to a statement by the ministry, the president's programme states an intention to "move towards a competitive, clean and sustainable matrix."
