ACWA Power secures debt funding for Uzbek, Azeri wind projects
Nov 01, 2024 9:49 CESTThe government of Azerbaijan last week entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an overseas investment arm of civil engineering company China Gezhouba Group for the implementation of 2 GW of renewable energy projects.
The signing of the pact took place during a meeting in Baku between Azeri energy minister Parviz Shahbazov and Lin Shanqing, Deputy Administrator of China’s National Energy Administration. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the two countries’ cooperation in the field of energy and the development of the contractual and legal framework between sector players, a news statement says.

The newly-signed document provides for a collaboration on the assessment of the investment potential in utility-scale solar, onshore and offshore wind energy, energy storage and integrated smart energy systems in Azerbaijan. The production of green hydrogen will be considered as well.
