China Gezhouba wins deal to build 540-MW HPP in South Sudan

Jan 31, 2012 - Construction company China Gezhouba Group (SHA:600068) said it had secured a CNY-8.87-billion (USD 1.4bn/EUR 1.1bn) contract to build a 540-MW hydropower plant (HPP) in South Sudan.

The company will be responsible for the construction of the power generation units, concrete overflow dams and rockfill dams, it said. Construction of the whole facility is to take 80 months.

The project is pending the go-ahead by the governments of China and South Sudan.
