CIP completes construction of 300-MW Taiwanese offshore wind farm
Sep 05, 2024 9:51 CESTJul 5, 2013 - China Steel Corp (TPE:2002) has agreed with Port of Taichung, a unit of Taiwan International Ports Corp, to develop a wind turbine assembly and shipping port and a wind power production facility at the port, Taiwan Today reported yesterday.
The port will provide its pier 2 and 74.28 ha (183.5 acres) of land for the development, under the letter of intent signed between the two partners.
China Steel will set up a wind power industrial cluster, including a testing and certification site, according to Shen Jong-chin, director general at Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, quoted by the media.
Taiwan should have 600 offshore wind turbines by 2030 with production value of TWD 700 billion (USD 23.303bn/EUR 18.099bn) and 19,000 created jobs, under the goal set in a wind power development plant of Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Shen Jong-chin said.
