H-TEC to supply 1-MW electrolyser for H2 mobility scheme in Spain
Sep 17, 2024 11:56 CESTChinese electrolyser manufacturer Hygreen Energy has committed to investing in a green hydrogen production plant and a components factory in the Spanish region of Andalusia, according to Wednesday’s statement from the regional government, whose delegation is currently on an official tour in China.
Hygreen Energy is willing to invest EUR 2 billion (USD 2.22bn) to construct a green hydrogen plant in the port city of Huelva, the Andalusia government said. Its delegation also witnessed the signing of an agreement in Beijing between Hygreen Energy and Spanish water and energy utility Coxabengoa, which outlines their partnership on the construction of a green hydrogen technology equipment manufacturing facility in Malaga.

The level of financial commitment in the Malaga project was not disclosed. The partnership is expected to leverage Seville-based Coxabengoa’s capabilities in Andalusia, and the project would be in line with the regional government’s strategy to have the entire green hydrogen value chain in its territory, according to the statement.
The government also highlighted Andalusia’s wealth in renewable energy needed for green hydrogen production. It said that the region added 1,605 MW of renewables in 2023, boasting today more than 11,800 MW of installed green capacity.
