Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTChinese company Jiangxi LDK Solar Hi-Tech Co Ltd plans to build a large solar panel factory in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region at a total cost of USD 75 million (EUR 70m).
This was unveiled by the Fergana Regional Municipality on Thursday after governor Khayrullo Bozorov received a delegation from the Chinese firm. During the meeting, the potential investor was informed about the Kokand Free Economic Zone (FZE), which is deemed suitable for the purposes.
The announcement mentions that all necessary equipment for the project will be imported from China and that a future expansion of the facility is planned as well.
Earlier this month, Bozorov also received Hakan Aytekin, CEO of Turkish company Alarko Holding Altek, which expressed interest in building a solar power station in Fergana. Aytekin has stated that his company is currently working on a 1-GW solar project in Turkey and is ready to replicate the scheme in Fergana should the necessary conditions be created.
The parties will meet again to develop a joint effort plan after the location of the project is determined, a press statement says.
