India imposed anti-dumping duties of up to USD 136.21 (EUR 116) per tonne on Chinese imports of textured toughened (tempered) glass, used in solar photovoltaic (PV) and thermal products.

The Ministry of Finance’s Revenue Department announced the move on Friday, saying that it is based on the conclusion that exports of the specific goods are hurting the domestic industry, and dumped imports are causing material injury. The duties will be effective for a period of five years from the date of publication of the decision in the Official Gazette.

Textured toughened (tempered) glass made by Xinyi PV Products (Anhui) Holding Ltd and exported by Xinyi Solar (Hongkong) Ltd will be subject to the lowest anti-dumping tariff of USD 52.85 per tonne. Three other Chinese producers of the specific glass got duties of between USD 64.04 and USD 97.63 per tonne, while all others face the highest level of USD 136.21/tonne.

The duties apply for textured toughened (tempered) glass with a minimum of 90.5% transmission, having thickness not exceeding 4.2 mm (including tolerance of 0.2 mm) and where at least one dimension exceeds 1500 mm, whether coated or uncoated.
