Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Windey Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (SHE:300772) and Japan's Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002) have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the field of renewable energy.

The pact was signed during a meeting in Japan between representatives of the two companies, Windey said on Friday, and comes hot on the heels of news that Saudi Arabia has signed two power purchase agreements (PPAs) with a consortium led by Marubeni for 1,100 MW of wind energy capacity at a world "record low" price.

According to Windey’s announcement, along with inking the MoU, the two teams conducted practical exchanges on green hydrogen, energy storage and offshore wind power. Discussions were further held on technology, project development, joint development and localisation strategy.

The terms were led by Windey chairman Gao Ling and Satoru Harada, executive officer and chief operating officer of Marubeni Corp's power division. The parties noted their past cooperation in Saudi Arabia and expressed hopes to deepen their partnership in the future.
