Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and PetroVietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on renewable energy and offshore wind.

Under the agreement, CIP and Vietnam’s national oil group commit to exchanging knowledge on the energy transition and to exploring opportunities to partner on developing specific offshore wind projects in the Asian country. The partnership will span areas including technology, supply chain, logistics, infrastructure and skills.

“CIP is a pioneer in offshore wind, and we look forward to sharing our knowledge, know-how and technological innovations to deliver Vietnam’s first offshore wind projects in a close collaboration of the parties and drive forward the green transition in the country,” Robert Helms, partner at CIP, said in a Linkedin post by the company on Friday.

CIP signed the MoU through its Growth Market Funds.

Vietnam targets 6 GW of offshore wind by 2030 under its Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8) for the period 2021-2030.
