Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTThe Bulawayo City Council in Zimbabwe is evaluating various types of sites for solar power systems deployment, including cemeteries, according to Council officials.
Town clerk Christopher Dube was quoted as saying by online newspaper New Zimbabwe that people have eventually accepted the idea for solar power generation at cemeteries even though there was some reluctance at first. The Infrastructure Development Bank (IDB) has now been engaged to conduct a feasibility study.
Other options being considered are installations on dams and waste-water and sewer treatment facilities, as well as on top of prominent buildings.
At the same time, the city’s director of engineering services, Simela Dube, has urged local firms to establish solar equipment factories to make it unnecessary to import such products.
