Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd, also known as CleanMax, has signed a deal to supply India’s Bangalore Airport in Karnataka with electricity from a 45.9-MW solar-wind power project.

The power deliveries will be made under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) between CleanMax and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the operator of the Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (Bangalore Airport). The captive power project will be realised by a special purpose vehicle called Clean Max Bial Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, CleanMax said recently.

The hybrid power plant will be installed in Jagaluru, Karnataka state, and will be owned and operated by CleanMax. It will be made up of 36 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and a wind park of 9.9 MW and will be part of a larger hybrid complex of 290 MW in size.

BIAL will source around 90 million kWh of power annually from the captive renewable energy complex, equal to its entire generation. The plant is expected to produce roughly 58.3 million kWh of solar and 31 million kWh of wind power.

The PPA with CleanMax will provide “substantial cost savings,” said Hari Marar, CEO of BIAL.
