Cleantech investments in France total USD 100m in Q3 2013

Oct 16, 2013 - Cleantech investments in France came in at USD 100 million (EUR 73m) in the third quarter of 2013, bringing the year-to-date total to USD 242 million, according to preliminary data of the i3 market intelligence platform released today by Cleantech Group.

The compiled data allowed several conclusions regarding the trends in the French cleantech sector. Thus, over the third quarter, investor interest in software or cleanweb technologies started to scale, while the agriculture and advanced materials sectors are experiencing a strong headway. Hence, they are well-positioned to gain significant market traction in the next years.

Over the period, the i3 market platform identified five top deals concerning five French companies. Two of them operate in the energy efficiency sector, another two are active in the biofuels segment and the fifth one is a solar power company.

The biggest transaction concerned Crocus Technology which raised USD 43.6 million in fresh funds thanks to five private equity investors, namely Idinvest Partners, Sofinnova Ventures, NanoDimension, Ventech and Innovation Capital.
