Strata signs tolling agreement for 400-MWh Arizona battery
Nov 12, 2024 16:56 CESTClenera Holdings LLC, the US unit of Israel’s Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TLV:ENLT), has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for its Snowflake A solar-plus-storage project in Arizona.
It is a busbar fixed price PPA with utility company Arizona Public Service (APS) as the off-taker procuring the Snowflake A’s 600 MW of solar generation capacity and 1,900 MWh of energy storage availability, Enlight said on Thursday.
The Snowflake A facilities will be located near Holbrook, Arizona. According to Enlight, the project is in the final stages of pre-construction permitting. It is expected to reach ready-to-build stage in the third quarter of 2025 and begin commercial operation in mid-2027, that is, if it receives all necessary permits.
Under the PPA terms, “if a certain required permit is not obtained by March 1, 2025, Clenera is entitled to terminate the PPA without any material termination costs”, Enlight stated in the press release.
Snowflake A, the initial phase of the Snowflake complex, is a major project in Enlight's portfolio, both in scale and profitability. A second phase is underway, adding 650 MW of solar and 2,100 MWh of storage. This aligns with Enlight's “Connect and Expand” strategy, leveraging existing infrastructure to reduce costs and risks of building new sites, the Israeli renewables company added.
