CNPEC to build 10-MW solar plant in Belarus, plans up to 300 MW - report

May 21, 2013 - China Nuclear Power Engineering Corp (CNPEC) will be building a 10-MW solar facility in the Mogilev region of Belarus next year under an alternative energy partnership with the local authorities, BelTA said Monday, quoting an official.

In addition to developing a plant in the Free Economic Zone Mogilev, CNPEC plans to install some 300 MW of solar panels in the region by 2018.

The Belarus Telegraph Agency quoted Nikolai Yurkov, chief of the department of energy, fuel and energy conservation, as saying that the planned 10-MW project will be the most powerful power generating site in the region, providing electricity to two or three agricultural districts. He also noted there are just two solar mini facilities in the Mogilev Oblast with an output of 180 kW and 200 kW.

At present, the partners are looking for a land plot of 25 hectares (61.78 acres) where the solar panels will be installed. They are expected to ink an investment contract in September, BelTa said.
