UK export credit agency offers over GBP 5bn for green H2 in Chile
Sep 13, 2024 15:00 CESTChilean berry grower and exporter Giddings Berries Chile SA signed on Wednesday a contract with power utility Colbun SA, procuring a supply of electricity from 100% renewable sources.
The contract enters into force on November 1, 2019, and will run for four years, Colbun said. The berry specialist will receive a supply of close to 2.4 GWh per year to power operations at two facilities in the Maule and Araucania regions.
Colbun operates 3,893 MW of installed capacity, much of it based on hydro and thermal power plants. Late adopter of non-conventional renewables, the company opened its first solar park, the 9-MW Ovejeria, in August 2018, and currently has several photovoltaic (PV) and wind projects in various stages of development, according to its website.
