AES Andes pledges USD 3bn in new solar, storage mega-projects in Chile
Sep 09, 2024 8:07 CESTApr 13, 2012 - Chilean copper miner Collahuasi has doubled to 60 GWh a year the electricity volume it wants to contract in its current tender for supplies from renewable energy projects, local daily Diario Financiero reported today.
The decision was taken after in January 2012 the bidders offered very attractive prices for the initially sought 30 GWh a year.
Collahuasi launched the tender last year, while in January it received offers from nearly 10 companies, all competing with solar projects.
Collahuasi is expected to announce the winners by the end of April, though the announcement could be delayed a few days more, sources linked to the tender told Diario Financiero.
