Colombian environmental licensing authority ANLA has granted its approval to the installation of a 100-MW wind farm and other wind power support infrastructure in the department of La Guajira, the government agency said on Tuesday.

The Trupillo wind farm will have 26 turbines with a capacity of 3 MW to 5 MW each, an electrical substation and other support infrastructure. Its developer also secured approval to build 24.19 km (15 miles) of new roads as part of this project.

The promoter of Trupillo is Eolica La Vela SAS, a project company of Spanish renewables developer Enerfin.

ANLA also approved the construction of a 34.3-km long double circuit 500 kV transmission line and a substation in La Guajira. These pieces of infrastructure will serve the Casa Electrica wind farm, which secured a power purchase agreement in Colombia’s 2019 electricity auction. ANLA granted the environmental permit for the wind farm construction in 2022.

Both Trupillo and the Casa Electrica infrastructure project required and completed the consultation process with the Wayuu indigenous communities.

These two projects brings the total number of licences granted by ANLA for non-conventional renewables to 17.
