Colombia connected 18 renewable energy generation plants to the national interconnected system (SIN) during the second and third quarter of 2023, among them 89 MW of solar farms, grid operator XM has announced.

The April-September period witnessed three small hydroelectric stations being hooked to the system. The remaining projects were different categories of solar -- six solar farms, two solar distributed generation plants, which have the capacity lower than 1 MW, and seven solar self-consumption systems.

The list of plants classified as solar farms is presented in the table below:

Plant name: Capacity: Generator:
La Tolua 19.9 MW Atlantica Colombia
Tierra Linda 9.9 MW Atlantica Colombia
Petalo del Magdalena I 9.90 MW Celsia Colombia
Los Girasoles 9.50 MW Parque Solar Los Girasoles
La Victoria 1 19.90 MW Celsia Colombia
La Victoria 2 19.90 MW Celsia Colombia

Electricity from the nearly 20-year old Jepirachi wind farm, Colombia’s first, is no longer circulating in the system as of October 9, XM added. The wind farm’s owner EPM stopped the power supply in compliance with the regulation and in preparation for the dismantlement.
