Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTFeb 19, 2013 - German solar equipment maker Conergy AG (ETR:CGYK) has won a contract to build a 210-KW solar facility in Tunisia, which will generate electricity for a groundwater desalination plant, the company said today.
The solar plant will be connected to the grid in March 2013 and is expected to cover 70% of the desalination plant's energy needs. Conergy will install around 900 of its powerplus modules with total annual output of 352 MWh.
Located in a dry desert region in the southeast of the country, the desalination plant was inaugurated by the Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali last November. It will be operated by local water supplier Sonede.
The order will enable Conergy to gain foothold in Tunisia, which offers significant growth potential, in view of the government's plans to significantly expand the power grid in the future.
