Conergy to build 540 kW rooftop solar plant in Bucharest

Hamburg-based solar systems supplier Conergy said on Tuesday it is building a rooftop photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 540 kilowatts in Romania's capital Bucharest.

Conergy is responsible for the planning and engineering of the 8,200 square metre solar installation, which covers the rooftop of a major soft drinks producer, Conergy said in a statement.

Conergy will also supply the modules and inverters and support its customer in the project's management and commissioning. Some 2,200 modules will prevent the emission of around 280 tonnes of CO2 each year and will deliver around 566,000 kilowatt hours of green power per year, sufficient to supply more than 160 households in the Romanian capital.

This is Conergy's first rooftop installation in Romania and its third solar power plant in the country. It has developed two free-field solar power plants with a respective capacity of 2.2 and 2 megawatts in Bobicesti, near the southwestern town of Craiova, and in Slobozia in southern Romania.
