Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTEight Rivers Energy Co Ltd (EREC) is expected to launch by December the construction of a 37-MW solar park in the Jamaican parish of Westmoreland, the Jamaica Gleaner writes today.
The company is also considering the addition of energy storage capacity as a likely option, partner Angella Rainford told the newspaper. She also expressed expectations for the Jamaican government to hold storage tenders next year.
Construction of the 37-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant is scheduled to take one year and be completed in December 2018. Once operational, it is expected to help save about 30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
EREC, which is controlled by French independent power producer (IPP) Neoen and Rekamniar Frontier Ventures, will own and operate the PV facility. Earlier this year, it picked OST Energy NA as Owner's Engineer for the USD-48.7-million (EUR 40.7m) project. MPC Capital was later brought in as a co-investor in the scheme, Angella Rainford said.
