SSE Renewables on Tuesday announced the start of a series of public consultation events dedicated to the potential new fourth phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm project in British waters which is planned to have a capacity of up to 2 GW.

The discussions, including eight in-person meetings and one online event, will last from September 10 until October 22, a press statement said.

Dogger Bank D, developed by a 50/50 joint venture between SSE Renewables and Norway’s Equinor (OSE:EQNR), will be located in the North Sea, about 210 kilometres (130 mi) off the Yorkshire coast.

“It’s vital for those who live or work locally to be informed about our plans and we look forward to sharing our ideas with the community and listening to what they have to say,” senior project manager Sophie Large said.

At the end of June, SSE Renewables and Equinor lodged a scoping report for the project with the UK’s Planning Inspectorate.

The first three phases of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm are already under construction. Once all of them are commissioned, the complex will have an installed capacity of 3.6 GW.
