Consumers' interest in small PV systems grows in Sep - report

Oct 15, 2013 - The interest in small and medium-sized photovoltaic (PV) systems with a capacity of up to 30 kW among end consumers has increased by 3.5% month-on-month in September 2013, the German Order Agency (DAA) was cited as saying by solarserver.de.

The SolarContact morale index, prepared by DAA, measures the interest among consumers in private PV systems and gives wholesalers an idea of the possible order situation in the following months.

The interest has risen for the third consecutive month and has almost reached the high level of 2012. The upward trend was unexpected due to the federal election in September and the resulting uncertainty over the subsidy scheme in the country, according to DAA.

The demand for energy storage devices remained weak mainly because of their relatively high prices.

The DAA foresees an increase in orders for PV systems for private consumption for the period until the end of the year, which is unusual for the season.
