ContourGlobal buys wind assets on Bonaire island

May 20, 2013 - US energy company ContourGlobal said yesterday it had acquired the wind and diesel power generation facilities on the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire from the administrator of the holding company’s owner.

The plants integrate wind power, diesel generation and battery storage technology to supply electricity to the island’s population of around 16,500. They have a long-term supply contract with Bonaire’s state-owned distribution company, Water en Energie Bedrijf Bonaire (WEB).

With this acquisition, ContourGlobal expands its presence in the Caribbean, where it has sites in St Martin, Guadeloupe and Colombia. It also adds to its 600-MW portfolio of wind, solar, biogas and biomass production in the Americas, Europe and Africa.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
