Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) has completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultation with South Korea's environment ministry for the 1.5-GW Haewoori floating wind project off the coast of Ulsan.

During the process, Haewoori Offshore Wind has actively collaborated with local governments and the community, taking their input into account to promote sustainable development and uphold corporate social responsibility, COP said on Tuesday.

The EIA evaluates the project's impact on onshore and offshore ecosystems such as marine and onshore environmental quality, noise, and socioeconomic factors.

In three phases, the wind park will be built about 75-95 km off the east coast of Ulsan at a water depth of about 120 - 130 metres. The wind speed in the area is 8.5 - 8.7m/s.

COP has already secured electric business licenses (EBLs) for the Haewoori Offshore Wind 1, 2, and 3 projects.

According to the project's website, the financial close is slated for 2025 while commissioning is planned for 2028.
