Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) will lead development for the 600-MW Fengmiao 2 offshore wind farm after the project by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) was successfully awarded capacity in Taiwan’s Round 3.2 Zonal Development Offshore Wind Auction.

The project is located about 40 km (25 miles) off the coast of Taichung City.

CIP and its exclusive offshore wind development partner COP have been present in Taiwan since 2017. COP has led development for a number of projects of the Danish fund manager, including the 500-MW Fengmiao 1, the 595-MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farms and the 298-MW Zhong Neng, which produced first power in June, in collaboration with China Steel Corporation (CSC).

The Round 3.2 auction awarded capacity across five projects.

Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) confirmed earlier this week its Formosa 6 project was awarded 800 MW.

"We are determined to give our best efforts to every project, including Formosa 4, which won capacity in the previous auction, and the newly launched Formosa 6.” stated SRE chairperson Lucas Lin.

The Formosa 3 offshore wind project off the coast of Changhua county, jointly developed by Corio Generation and TotalEnergies, also secured capacity.

A spokesperson for the project said: “We're pleased that Formosa 3 has been awarded capacity in the Round 3.2 grid connection allocation. While we recognise the currently challenging environment for the industry, we look forward to continuing to make progress on the project in cooperation with the government, the supply chain and community stakeholders.”
