Global offshore wind developer Corio Generation has secured green lane certification for its 3 GW of offshore wind projects in the Philippines, enabling it to move faster through the permitting procedures.

The company explained in a LinkedIn post that the certification by the Philippine Board of Investments will ensure it goes through an “expedited processing of permits and licenses” with its projects in Cavite and Guimaras. “These green lane certifications are crucial for our project development and efforts in helping the country reach its decarbonisation targets," said Alma Roxas-Aguila, Corio's development director for the Philippines.

Corio, a portfolio company of the Macquarie Group, seeks to develop up to five projects totalling 3 GW under wind energy service contracts that grant site exclusivity. The projects will be located off the coasts of Cavite, Batangas-Mindoro, IIoilo and Guimaras, and will comprise 2 GW of fixed-bottom and 1 GW of floating platforms.

Earlier in July, Corio said it plans to submit offshore wind proposals in the upcoming green energy auction in the Philippines, to be held in support of the country’s goal to have 35% of renewables in its energy generation mix by 2030 and 50% by 2040.
