CORRECTED - Chile Austriansolar seeks permit for 100 MW solar park

Oct 25, 2013 - Chilean firm Austriansolar Chile Uno SpA yesterday requested environmental permit to build a 100 MW photovoltaic park in Diego de Almagro municipality, in the northern Atacama region.

The project, dubbed Sol de Los Andes, will be developed in two phases of 50 MW and will cost a total USD 216 million (EUR 156.3m).

The solar panels will supply Chile's SIC grid through a 110 kV line, to be connected to any of the existing local lines Salvador-Diego de Almagro or Llanta-Potrerillos.

Construction will take eight months and could start in July 2014, Austriansolar estimates.
