CORRECTED - Output of Czech PV power plants quadruples in Q1 2011

(Corrects information about installed capacity.)

In our story dated May 17, 2011 and headlined "Output of Czech PV power plants quadruples in Q1 2011", please read in the third paragraph "The installed PV capacity in the Czech Republic as at the end of March this year was 1.953 GW, significantly higher than the 463 MW registered a year earlier.", instead of "The installed PV capacity in the Czech Republic between January and March this year was 1,953 GW, significantly higher than the 463 MW installed during the same period of last year."

A corrected version follows:

(ADPnews) - May 17, 2011 - The power generation of Czech photovoltaic (PV) power stations jumped four times on the year to 346.5 GWh in the first quarter of 2011, the local energy authority Energeticky Regulacni Urad reported yesterday.

In the first three months of 2010, the power output of the PV facilities stood at only 64.6 GWh.

The installed PV capacity in the Czech Republic as at the end of March this year was 1.953 GW, significantly higher than the 463 MW registered a year earlier.

The boom in installed capacity was due to the jump in new solar stations construction, particularly in the second half of 2010. During that period, the construction was generously subsidised by the government. Meanwhile, however, subsidies have been reduced significantly.

PV power stations account for around 2% of the total power generation in the Czech Republic.
