The Government of Cote d’Ivoire has issued a Request For Prequalification (RFQ) to screen bidders willing to design, finance, build and operate two solar parks totalling at least 60 MWp.

The two-grid connected photovoltaic (PV) plants are planned to be installed in Laboa and Touba in the western region of Bafing, the Ministry of Mines, Oil and Energy said last week.

The pre-qualification stage concludes on September 6, 2021. Shortlisted bidders will be then invited to take part in a Request for Proposals (RfP).

The potential bidders are required to have the experience, expertise and financial resources to carry out the projects under tight deadlines. Pre-qualified bidders can bid for both projects, according to the official documents.

The tender that will follow will be open to independent power producers (IPPs). It will be conducted through the Scaling Solar initiative, a World Bank Group programme aimed at governments in emerging markets. The concession will be awarded for 25 years.

Cote d’Ivoire aims to generate 42% of its total electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030.
