Nordex wins order to deliver turbines for 43-MW wind park in Ireland
Sep 12, 2024 10:12 CESTDanish engineering consultancy COWI A/S has secured a contract to deliver the front-end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design of foundations for the 1.3-GW Codling Wind Park project set in the waters of the Irish Sea.
Under the agreement, COWI will be responsible for the design of wind turbine foundations, associated components and offshore substation foundations, the firm said on Monday.
COWI’s appointment comes shortly after the Codling project promoters decided to trim the number of turbines to between 60 and 75 after previously settling on using 100 machines. The targeted capacity has remained unchanged at 1.3 GW, which will make Codling Ireland’s largest offshore wind farm.
Codling Wind Park will be located some 13 to 22 kilometres (18-14 miles) off the coast of County Wicklow. The project is developed by a 50/50 joint venture between Fred. Olsen Seawind and EDF Renewables.
