Woodland Biofuels to pour USD 1.35bn into Louisiana port biofuel hub
Sep 18, 2024 8:54 CEST(ADPnews) - Jan 18, 2011 - US communications and entertainment firm Cox Communications announced last week it had installed two fuel cell systems with a combined capacity of 800 kW at its headquarters in San Diego.
The units, each with a 400-kW capacity, were provided by UTC Power, part of US United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX). They have been constructed at two Cox Communications buildings to cover 100% and 60% of their power needs respectively. The produced electricity is enough to power 602 households a year.
The project is in line with the company's plan to scale down its carbon dioxide emissions by 20% by 2017. Cox Communications' parent -- automotive services company Cox Enterprises -- is saving over 16,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, thanks to alternative energy projects.
