Croatian Energy Market Operator (HROTE) has awarded market premiums to 419.1 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) and hydropower projects as part of its latest tender, which sought up to 607 MW of proposals.

The competitive round ended with no awards to wind farm projects, official data released by the authority shows.

A total of 144 proposals were submitted in response to HROTE’s public call, for a total of 713.4 MW of capacity. After 110 of the applications were declared valid, premiums were allocated to 92 projects.

Market premiums are calculated as the difference between the reference value and the reference market price of electricity and are awarded in two categories. The first slot was open to solar and wind farms of up to 1 MW and hydropower plants of between 1 MW and 10 MW in size. The second category sought wind proposals of between 200 kW and 18 MW, solar plants with capacities ranging between 200 kW and 6 MW.

The average reference price for the solar projects in each of the two main categories was EUR 56.54 (USD 61.92) per MWh and EUR 77.78/MWh, respectively.

Each winning project will be able to receive a market premium of up to EUR 30 million. The selected developers will need to submit guarantees of EUR 39.82 per kW for the construction of their projects.
