Croatia gets 19 bids for 150 MW in tender for market premiums for renewables

Croatia's energy market operator HROTE said it has received 19 bids for a total of 150 MW in a public tender aimed to back the production of electricity from renewable sources through market premiums.

The bids will be evaluated and a decision to choose the best bidders will be taken within 30 days, HROTE said in a statement on Thursday.

The tender was opened from June 17 to July 4, and was exclusively for new projects.

Five bids were submitted for solar plants of an overall 12,996 kW, three bids for hydroelectric power plants of 5,350 kW, three bids were placed for wind parks ofwith total 113,000 kW, seven bids were placed for biogas plants of 8,740 kW and one bid for a 10,000 kW geothermal power plant.

Market premium is an incentive system in which HROTE pays to producers the difference between the contracted price and the market price of electricity.

The total quota for the tender, 630 MW, equals some 60% of the current portfolio in the incentive system run by HROTE, the market operator said earlier.
