Cuba presents wind map - report

Jun 5, 2013 - Cuba presented the first version of its wind map during a renewable energy forum in Havana city yesterday, official daily Granma reported.

The most suitable places for wind energy development are the northern coast of the central-eastern region, especially from Camaguey to Holguin city, as well as the southwestern part of Pinar del Rio province and southeastern Cuba.

Cuba's Meteorology Institute in collaboration with other local institutions and Canadian firm Environment Canada carried out the studies, considering both wind power plants and water pumping installations for agricultural or domestic purposes.
