Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTCuban state-owned builder Empresa de Construccion y Montaje has laid the foundations for the first two of 34 towers that will make up the 51-MW La Herradura-1 (LH-1) wind farm on the coast of the Las Tunas province, news agency ACN reported on Monday.
Las Tunas is also the home of the 50-MW La Herradura-2 (LH-2) farm, currently under construction, and a substation that will connect both wind parks to the national grid.
The builder is making plans for a third wind park in the same area, engineer and company director Carlos Manuel Quesada Borges told the Cuban news agency.
The LH-1 will be equipped with wind turbines supplied by Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology (HKG:2208). China’s Dongfang Electric Corp Ltd (SHA:600875) will supply 20 turbines for the LH-2 farm, per Chinese state-owned news agency Xinhua.
The island country expects to source 24% of its electricity needs from renewables by 2030, according to the agency’s news report.
