Cuba has inaugurated a 1.25-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in the province of Sancti Spiritus, state news agency Prensa Latina reported on Friday.

This PV facility is financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

Located to the North of the island, in the community of Venegas, the solar park is expected to generate around 1,875 MWh per year for the National Electro-Energetic System (SEN). It will be offsetting some 1,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, according to the report.

In all, PV projects with a combined capacity of 63 MW in Sancti Spiritus are to be connected into the SEN this year, the news agency noted.
