Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTCuba has inaugurated a 3.75-MWp photovoltaic (PV) park in the province of Matanzas, local news agency Agencia Cubana de Noticias reported on Thursday.
Located in the municipality of Cardenas, the solar park is part of a 10-MWp PV portfolio in the region. In addition to Cardenas 1, there are two facilities in Sancti Spitirus province, of 1.25 MWp and 2.5 MWp. In addition, there is a 2.5-MWp solar farm in Camaguey.
These PV facilities were financed by a loan granted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
With the 10 MWp, Cuba can generate around 15,000 MWh per year, enough to meet the electricity consumption of 6,994 homes and offset some 12,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The island nation has a plant for the installation of 2,284 MW of green plants by 2230 with sources ranging from biomass, wind, solar and small hydro.
