CWP Global working on 450-MW wind farm project in Serbia

Renewable energy developer CWP Global intends to build a 450-MW wind farm in northern Serbia, further enhancing its presence in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), an official document showed on Monday.

The project envisages the installation of between 55 and 57 wind turbine generators at a site in the municipalities of Srbobran and Becej, Vojvodina province. Each of these machines will have a capacity of at least 5 MW and a maximum tip height of up to 270 m (886 ft).

The project, called Vetrogon, will cover a total area of 457 sq km (176.4 sq miles), according to data released by the Vojvodina autonomous province giving early public insight into the scheme.

Financial details about the proposed investment were not available. The Serbian Monitor writes that the project's value is estimated at EUR 600 million (USD 651.4m).

Through its subsidiary CWP Europe, CWP Global has been working on large-scale green energy projects in CEE since 2010. At present, the company is working on the development of over 6 GW of utility-scale wind, solar and battery storage projects in the region. In Serbia, it owns 500 MW of wind and 134 MW of solar assets, plus an 800-MW early-stage development portfolio, it says on its website.
